Research Engineer

Alex Del Fedele is a Research Engineer at Supercritical, specializing in gradient-based aerodynamic shape optimization and high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics.
Mr. Del Fedele received his MSc in aviation with a specialization in aerodynamics from the ZHAW School of Engineering, where he was advised by Prof. Marcello Righi. His master's thesis, completed in collaboration with Prof. Martins, focused on high-fidelity gradient-based multipoint aerodynamic optimization of a general aviation wing considering stall constraints. As part of this collaboration, Mr. Del Fedele visited the University of Michigan to learn and apply the MDO Lab's optimization tools.
Before his master's, Mr. Del Fedele earned his BSc in Aviation, specializing in Technical Engineering from the ZHAW School of Engineering. He also completed a Polymechanic AFC Diploma with an integrated vocational baccalaureate from SAM Bellinzona.
At Supercritical, Mr. Del Fedele applies his knowledge of advanced optimization techniques and high-fidelity CFD to develop efficient aerodynamic designs.

Global pioneers in computational design optimization, we offer breakthrough engineering solutions backed by exceptional research and industry-leading expertise.
